These terms apply to the use of shieldix.uk, the Shieldix plugin and Shieldix Cloud, and to every purchase of a plan or of AI credits. A “consumer” is a natural person acting for purposes outside their trade, business, craft or profession (article 3 of the Italian Consumer Code, the Codice del Consumo); every other customer is a “business”. Where these terms treat consumers differently, it says so.

These terms are published in English; the English text is the official one.

The Shieldix plugin for WordPress is free and licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later (GPL). It runs on your own server and protects your site on its own, without Shieldix Cloud. As the GPL says, it is provided without warranty, to the extent the law allows.

Shieldix Cloud is an optional paid service: Shieldix AI explains serious incidents and can block attacking addresses on your site for a limited time, the shared list of attackers lets your site block addresses that attack other protected sites, and the panel shows all your sites in one place.

A site is connected only when an administrator of that site enters a link code from the panel and explicitly agrees to what is sent. You can disconnect a site at any time, from the plugin or from the panel.

An account needs two-step sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your password and your authenticator safe, and you may connect only sites that you run or are allowed to manage.

For the data of your website’s visitors that Shieldix Cloud processes, you are the controller and we are your processor; the Data Processing Agreement at [DPA LINK] is part of these terms. You are responsible for informing your visitors (the plugin suggests text for your privacy policy).

Shieldix Cloud plans (Pro, Business and Agency) are sold per site, monthly or yearly; each includes a number of Shieldix AI analyses per site per month. Prices and what each plan includes are shown on the pricing page. Prices for consumers are shown including VAT. Plans and AI credits are bought in the shop on shieldix.uk, with an account whose email address you have confirmed. Payments are made through PayPal only. The contract for a plan or for AI credits is concluded when PayPal confirms the subscription or the payment; we confirm it right away by email, with the order, our company details, the consent you gave and the information on the right of withdrawal; the activation key of a plan follows in a separate email. Before a plan starts, the checkout asks you to tick this box (version 2026-10-09-draft): “I ask you to start the service now, before the 14-day withdrawal period ends. I understand that if I withdraw, I pay for the service provided until then, and that I lose the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully provided.” The shop stores your consent with the time you gave it and this version. A plan renews automatically at the end of each period (month or year) and is charged again through PayPal, until it is cancelled. If we change the price of a plan, we will tell you by email at least [NOTICE PERIOD FOR PRICE CHANGES] before it applies to your next period, and you can cancel before then.

You can cancel a plan at any time, in My account on shieldix.uk or in your PayPal account; no further payments are taken. We remind you by email 7 days before a yearly plan renews. When a plan ends — because you cancel it, because PayPal suspends the subscription or because it expires — the site keeps the plan until the end of the period already paid and for 3 more days after it, and then returns to the free features: Shieldix AI and the shared list of attackers stop for that site, and the plugin keeps protecting it on its own. Each plan comes with one activation key for one site at a time. Keep it confidential: anyone who has it can use the plan. You can move the plan to another site by releasing the key in My account or deactivating it in the plugin, and get a new key in My account if you lose it; the old key then stops working.

AI credits are prepaid analyses by Shieldix AI for the sites of your account. Analyses included in your plan are used first, then your AI credits; when both run out, Shieldix AI pauses and the plugin keeps protecting your site. AI credits cannot be exchanged for money, except as described in the refund policy. [WHETHER AND WHEN CREDITS EXPIRE]

  • Do not use Shieldix Cloud to attack or harm others, or to test sites you are not allowed to test.
  • Do not try to get into other customers’ data, to get around the limits of your plan, or to interfere with the service.

Shieldix lowers the risk of an attack succeeding, but no security product can prevent every attack, and we do not promise that your site will never be attacked or compromised. Keep backups and keep WordPress, plugins and themes up to date.

Shieldix AI can be wrong. Its blocks last 24 hours, it makes at most 20 a day per site, and it never blocks addresses on your never-block list.

We work to keep Shieldix Cloud available, but it may be interrupted for maintenance or by faults. When Shieldix Cloud is unavailable, the plugin keeps protecting your site on its own. [SERVICE LEVEL, IF ANY]

If you are a consumer, you have the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and digital services (articles 135-octies and following of the Codice del Consumo) and every other right the law gives consumers. Nothing in these terms limits these rights.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence (article 1229 of the Italian Civil Code), for death or personal injury, or where the law does not allow it, nor any right of consumers under the Codice del Consumo or the mandatory law of the country where they live.

Within those limits, for business customers: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profit or lost data, and our total liability for a site in any 12 months is limited to the amount paid for that site in those 12 months. We may suspend a site or an account, after telling you where possible, if it breaks these terms, puts the service or other customers at risk, or if a payment fails. We lift the suspension as soon as the reason is gone. If a serious breach continues, we may end the contract by email; for paid periods not used because of our termination without your fault, we refund the unused part.

You can stop at any time: cancel your plans, disconnect your sites and delete your account in the panel.

We may change these terms when the service or the law changes. We will tell account holders by email at least [NOTICE PERIOD FOR CHANGES TO THE TERMS] before a change applies. If you do not agree, you can cancel before it applies; changes do not affect a period you have already paid for unless the law requires them.

These terms are governed by Italian law, excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live (Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 593/2008).

Businesses: the courts of Trieste, Italy, have exclusive jurisdiction.

Consumers: the courts of the place where you live have jurisdiction, under article 66-bis of the Codice del Consumo for consumers in Italy and Articles 17 to 19 of Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012 for consumers elsewhere in the EU.
